Smart Car-Buying Tips

A lot of people would advice against getting a car considering this time of financial crises and with the prices for fuel shooting up. However, if you’re really itching to get your hands on a set of wheels that you can call your own, take the time to look over these features you may want to look for in search of a car that you can defend and justify to environmentalists, your wife and your own wallet:

Improved aerodynamics. A box shaped car or truck needs to exert more force to counter air resistance, this causes more stress on the engine making it work harder and use up more fuel. Excellent aerodynamics of a car gives better gas mileage and improves handling at the same time.

Low rolling resistance tires. There are special tires that are stiffer and more inflated than regular tires. These tires maintain an acceptable grip while they obtain lower rolling resistance. Rolling resistance causes mechanical drag which makes the engine work harder and thus burn up much more fuel.

The ability to shut down the gasoline or diesel engine during traffic stops or while coasting or other idle periods; this feature is very important for city drivers who drive on busy streets with a considerable amount of traffic.
